I too am considering Noetix or just sticking with OBIA modules instead. Reports will have to be built from scratch. But, you guys are on 4i, which cannot be migrated with click of a button.

Coming to Noetix, RPD generation is very seamless and you probably have to manage security alone. Custom views if you have need to be imported in Physical, model in BMM and present them presentation layer. I do not see any ETL customizations if you are only talking about the views. Custom reports will have to be built from scratch in OBIEE. Effort cannot be estimated with not much information in hand. You will have to look at Noetix and see what would be possible to build out of Noetix subject areas and estimate effort based on complexity and data availability for each report. There may be cases where you will have to create new physical table(s), ETLs and report(s). So, you will have to analyze report by report for estimation. Hope, this helps.

Good Luck!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2900868195005574703.post-18141746507697345952008-09-30T16:39:00.000-07:002008-09-30T16:39:00.000-07:00Hi Changa, we are looking into a scenario where we...Hi Changa, we are looking into a scenario where we are required to migrate large number of Discoverer 4i reports to OBIEE. We have some custom reports and views too that are to be migrated.

I am aware that Noetix Generator for OBIEE can handle it to some extent, but at the repository level, how seamless is the integration and how much customization/ETL would be required for the custom reports to be built on custom views (say 50 reports from 60 custom views.

Appreciate your valuable inputs based on your experience.

~SparjuAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
